Its been 4 years since I last had a real date. Had a meet and greet dinner with a chick last week. I doubt it will go anywhere but I'l let it play out and see where it goes. The chick from 13 years ago still has my interest, is currently single, but lives 600 miles away, and is not in an emotional place to date anyone for awhile. We talk almost every night. On paper we are a good match, we like the same things from music to movies, to activities. We have a similar sense of humor, and laugh at each others bad jokes. She even wants to try racing cars (and yes, I'd let her autoX my M3). The chance to be anything but friends has never presented itself. A decade a go I tried to date her, but the timing was very wrong. It destroyed our friendship and it was left for dead till last November. Something kind of amazing happened and we sort of rediscovered each other. Again, the timing is off, but who knows what the future holds. Likely nothing, but anything is possible. If someone had told either one of us that we'd reconnect let alone reconnect on the level we have, 6 months ago, we'd have both laughed at the person and tell them they were smoking a lot of crack. Time will tell. She's sick of picking asshole guys, (the last one takes the cake for assholes as well) and I'm not an asshole. Whether or not we can build something from "just friends" remains to be seen, but it might. She has a lot of stuff to sort out in her life, I'll see how it plays out.
