    House remodeling

As some know I have been doing one for the better part of last three years ARG! Finishing up this year, I have forced hot air system and I am getting an ice dam on my roof just above where the exhaust for the furnace exits the house.

Has anyone had this before? Exit's the required 12" from structure then turns down in a 90 bend

Contractor of 15 years, post pictures and I can tell you what needs to be done. We get so much ice backed up around here.

Typical ice dam but it's brought about by the furnace pvc exhaust out of the basement not the roof. We have a ton of snow getting back there is tough.

i guess this thread is a little too ambiguous for help. its impossible to know the cause with the description you provided. its possible that if you extend the pipe a little higher it won't blow hot air on your roof causing the melt/freeze issue you apparently describe.

I have spoke with an HVAC guy about it. He's gonna look at. Snows melting so it's not a major factor at the moment but could become one if we get more snow.
