I was never that impressed by the triplex suspension. All it is it a common-mode damper, and you could get a similar result by just adding more low speed compression damping into the suspension, with the only difference being that the triplex doesn't add any differential (roll) damping. So it'll ride better over potholes maybe, but the same over things like expansion joints, or anything that hits both wheels at the same time.
It is definitely different, but it just seems like a lot of it is marketing to me.
Does he not mention the fact that suspension was designed to have properties of also a road car? More damping, theoretically would mean more restriction on hard take offs but also softer compression and rebound on bumps. think that's the point he was trying to make...

Exactly. Square "lobe" profiles! Can't imagine what a digital motor would drive like.

I don't think 'valve tuning' will be a viable/reasonable option for most people for a while. I don't image those actuators will be cheap for quite some time... I'll give it at least 5 years before Mercedes/(super luxury car innovator X) starts using the tech on their S classes and we all know how Mercedes tech tends to trickle down to other, cheaper car manufacturers... only in a more shitty way while taking at least another 5 years.
Problem is I can see many, many engines getting fucked up because of this. Accidentally retard/advance your ignition too much or leaned or enriched your fuel too much? You'll know when it pings or runs bad, then you'll fix it. Do the same with your infinitely adjustable valve timing & duration? Well, hey there, valvejob ;)
At least you won't have to deal with removing the timing belt/chain to get the head off :D

Are you suggesting that once this hyper advanced valve mashing technology gets implemented EVERYONE is going to immediately say F a factory proven tune, I want moooaaarrrrrr!!!!!?????
For real though, thank you for posting OP, this made my night ;)

Koenigsegg engineering always astounds me. Sure companies like McLaren and (sometimes) Porsche make amazing stuff, but Koenigsegg is super tiny and does everything from scratch right down to the engine management. The fact that they're not only keeping up with the world leading competition is impressive enough, but then they go ahead and try things nobody else has even touched like flex fuel in a thousand horsepower supercar. CvK is a gift to the car world.Last edited by Raxe; 03-12-2014, 08:32 PM.
