My emo post for the year.....

Im weighing this decision heavily because, personally, I dont want to do it but its one of those things where I think I should man-up and take advantage of the opportunity.

I've worked a few summer internships for this company in the past and, in the beginning, it was a blast. Its a tech job and I am originally educated in that. The money is good, its a real job, and its always valuable career experience since I imagine I will always be a nerd.

The catch. They kinda got bought up by another company so they do a lot of national contracts. Its also one of these good buddy scenarios where the guy who they hired to sort be my boss (I dont report to him but he would be engineering my jobs) is inept. My job involves a shitload of travel, living out of a suitcase, and since he fucks up every job in some way I have to be a project coordinator on the road (which sucks balls). Although the travel may seem fun it gets really old month after month. I caught a lot of shit from my friends because I basically dissapeared for the summer.

Cliffs notes: Trying to decide whether to: A. not enjoy my summer and make a decent years wages in 3 months or B. Budget and have fun camping, riding, and generally screwing around with my friends.

Half of me remembers how old it got last summer but the other half is thinking I could get a nicer apartment and work less during the school year.
    Im now E30less.

Might as well do that while you still can. After you graduate and get a permanent job, you won't have that option over summer anymore.

I'm with Jarvis. I dropped out of school when I was 20 and went on permanent vacation for about 4 years. It was the best decision of my life. I since went back, got my degree and now work, got married, had a kid, etc. I could have finished school straight through and got a job, but man, the memories and fun I had just being young and screwing around. It was well worth it. Have fun while you can.

I graduated two years ago and I highly recommend f-ing off during at least one summer. I don't recommend doing shit for all four summers in school, otherwise you won't be able to gain valuable career experience. It seems like you've already had enough career experience to learn that work sucks. Good enough, I say.

When you hit the job market, you'll have two to three weeks to fuck off every year. Unless you move to Europe, where you'd probably be able to get your fill of fucking off July through August. Your friends won't even be around either. So, hone your beer pong and ice luging skillz, and hopefully the rest will fall in place once you graduate from school. Also you won't have classes getting in the way of what college is really about. Fucking off.

You have the rest of your life to make money doing a job you hate... I vote for #2. Have fun dicking around while it's still socially acceptable.

You can either complain about your situation, or rise above it. A leader could go beyond his restraints. Even if your boss is a dimwit, you can still achieve beyond him, and gain experience and prove you can do your job well.

If you just fill the bill, you'll be doing that your entire life.

Dude, your going to be working till your 60+ but I guarantee you wont be raging your face off past 30. Think about it, crack a beer, and quit that shitty job.

You cant replace life experiance while your young. IMHO id say let it slide and go live while you still can. Work is work, not life.

Think of it this way, your not going to remember the mundane job you had, but I can guarantee youll remember a kick ass summer with your buds.

your young, live while your young, work when your old.

I always regret the times I worked and missed out on happenin' times.

People always say that dave. I did do a lot of that at first but its the getting home in time to leave again that got old. I told them I would think about it and then was promised that the issues I had with last summer would be resolved after the tone of my voice broadcast my thoughts.

The way they made it sound, part of me wants to see how much I can get. ;) While I am back in KC talking to them I think I am going to hit up this girl who I know just got out of an engagement and is interested in me. If we hit it off then that will probably be the last straw.

Besides, at my age I could still take some tech underling job locally at Sprint or something like when I first gradumacated.
