Btw looking at that pic is a little surreal as it looks exactly like the setup in my sons room!
He gets to play with only *some* vinyl.
How do you spin with the tone arms so far away?


Here's my at home setup. I built a bar years ago to fit a bar fridge, and a couple kegs with taps.

I quit drinking and now use the bar as my DJ booth.
I have a 15" powered subwoofer where the fridge would go now. It's mental on the lows. The krk's hold up their own nicely.

Unfortunately, I've lost about 75% of my vinyl collection in a flood, in the early 2000s. Even lost some of my (cherrished USA made Cerwin Vega bass bottoms too)
I'm gonna look around and see what I still have. You could probably have them, for about a buck a piece when I do find'em.

Hoofenstein if you're looking for a NI Maschine, you'd best stick with traktor and not serato.

As for sampling/producing I do a bit.
I recently got Reason6 and I'm messing around with that. What a program wow.
Also still mash around on my old Korg Electribe analogue drum Machine and make my own samples at times.

IMO traktor is far more more versatile when compared to serato, and more tweakable in all counts.
Tougher learning curve tho.

Iron-E teach your daughter to spin! My 7 year old is obsessed with wanting to learn. And just that makes me the happiest guy ever :-D

I don't really beat match/juggle/mix but I have a decently sized collection of obscure ethnic wax for sampling purposes. I have been meaning to get another turn table, mixer and Serato for a while though but also badly want an NI Maschine. Tough call.

ha i actually jumped on the old techs this weekend, had a few friends over and they were badgering me to do so, played some good ol' house and some liquid dnb, brought back a lot of memories.

my buddy recently got into the controller side of things, but after showing him around some proper dj gear, he seems to have changed his mind on controllers haha

I haven't even opened my flight cases in about a decade., seeing you OP, post up a couple of items for sale a few weeks ago, made me realize that, I probably should get those things out of storage and oil them up a little, along with my busted up, rusty skills.

I always laugh whenever I see someone post something like this., Reason being is that, alot of us tend to have the same likes/taste or come from a similar background.

I'm an old fuck now but, I have done my share of partying and DJing (height of my djing days was, opening for Bad Boy Bill & back up for Richard Humpty Vision at a local venue). I played a lot of the then HARD HOUSE, TRANCE, ACID BREAKS etc., etc., etc...

I can't stand new age technology, as far as DJing goes. The technology killed dinosaurs like us (Vinyl dj's). I never really minded lugin a set of 50-100 records around(kinda heavy) cause I could make an easy $150 in a night, during the weekend for a couple of hours of play at a time.

I've opened up for Marcus Visionary and Dany Byrd myself some time ago.

I have a solid setup at home in terms of DJ setup, midi controllers, abbleton, Reason 6...but for this mix was a couple of Gemini's (don't even have tech 12's) and a Numark 2 chanel mixer. thats it.
