    Amazing photography (Fijian Islands/spring break)

I used to go here every spring break during high school, but now with college in the way, I haven't been fortunate enough to go back. However, the rest of my family continues to go, and brought back these amazing pictures.

The island is privately owned, and is rented out to a 15-20 person group for as long as they want. You can walk around it in ~20 minutes, and it's probably the most amazing place I've ever been to.

It's most famously known for it's surf spots, particularly "Cloudbreak". Quicksilver hosts a tournament there every year, and always brings out the best of the best.

All the pics are pre-processing, and are scaled down 1/4, they look much better in full resolution.

    Tavarua:

    Cloudbreak:

    Sunrises and sunsets:

On the way to a snorkel spot:

All these and 25 more are available in high res (something like 3500x2700).

Cool pictures, I wish I could go there, or any place tropical like that. You must come from a wealthy family. I've never seen the ocean. However, my hometown beach here in Grand Haven was in like the top ten list for best American beaches. We don't see any waves like that here though.

WOW!!!! I'm jealous. How much does it cost and how far is it from the Fiji International Airport?

You land at the main airport, take a one hour bus ride across the island to a beach, then take a one hour boat ride to the island. It costs $2200/person, which includes three meals a day, airplane tickets, housing (small gazebo-type shacks), and all other accomodations. More pictures are on their way.

(Yes, this guy is a professional, btw)

How many days does that cost cover?

10 days; you can't go individually, unfortunately. The island is rented out to corporations, or people associated with corporations. Rusty Surfboards (who we go with) buys out two weeks in March, two weeks in June, and one week in August.

However, there are other local islands that are open to anyone, some that are very close to Tavarua.

Being an New England surfer has always had me wishing to go to spots like this. You always hear about the famous one, trestles, pipeline, etc. If I could ever pick one spot, cloudbreak would have to be it. Look at the lines! Hollow as hell too. I can't imagine what kind of nasty coral death is under the water if you go down hard there. Sweet pictures. Have you surfed that break?

I've surfed "Restaurants" which is 60 yards off the island and peaks at about 6ft, but never Cloudbreak (1 mile off the island). The coral (almost literally 4-5ft. under water) scares the hell out of me, mostly because I've seen guys come back to the island that look like they've been attacked by bears. I surfed a spot in Cabo once that had coral at a shallow depth, and it's just way too sketchy.
