Offtopic: help !!

What's up everyone ! So I recently picked up an iPhone 4 from a electronics recycler because my previous phone kept crashing and wasn't reliable. So what I need help with is that the iPhone is from AT&T and my service is T-mobile and I need it unlocked so I can put my SIM card in and actually use it, anybody know a way I can get this done for cheap ? AT&T customer service wasn't any help when I called thanks ahead ! And the prize for helping me is a new e30 enthusiasts lanyard !

Have you looked into jailbreak options for unlocking? It has been some time since I screwed around with iPhones, but there used to be a way to unlock the phone with some jailbreak applications. Search google for some options relating to the iPhone 4.

Also, why didn't you just post this in off topic?

Sorry I'm still new to most stuff on r3v besides the e30 DIY and technical forums. Lol but I've heard I can unlock it by jail breaking but I've been trying to avoid jailbreaking because of how the iphone is more at risk

Trust me, jailbreaking phones doesn't affect the performance or security of the phone unless the method you use to jailbreak isn't a very good one. I don't know what method is most widely used nowadays seeing as the last OS I used on iPhone was iOS 4.

Jailbreak it, or have it flashed at a kiosk in the mall. Tell them you are going overseas for work/school, they should do it for free. At least that is what my friend who is a T-Mobile rep said.

I work at ATT and For them to unlock you need to fill out an online request. Kinda BS as i think as soon as any phone is out of contract or purchased outright it should just be done. Its all crap they do on the back end anyway.

To do a JB unlock you'd have to have a very old baseband and firmware, which I doubt you do.
