It was a smaller joke around the time of the demise of BEN. Its just one of those things (like the orly owl) that grew.
Hey, you losers who have been around here forever....

I definitely remember the "is it safe" jokes with Pete, though. I'm not sure I ever completely knew what it meant, but I remember it.Comment

I remember you posting on BEN eons ago Ryan, back when I had a 325e. Your car was one of the few cool ETA's I'd seen.
Back then I was still posting on the BMW newsgroup, but some of these clowns were also there. :)Comment

Ha ha, I found my registry page. I might have been a little off on the dates I was on BEN, but I don't remember exactly when it went south, but I know I had the car for about 6 months before I registered there.
BTW, I found my username too, it was "element". But I don't think I ever posted on the message boards, so it makes sense no one would remember me. :D

The only BEN names that stand out in my head trying to reminisce are Ryan, Ove, Gustavo, Fred Kim, Eric Lukas, and John Mendoza. I got to see John's M3 before he sold it, and it was a jaw-dropper for sure. Even his stereo was tastefully put together (Lotsandlotsa McIntosh gear! :) )I retired my E30 for now...

I remember the late JoshQ, Ove, Ska was on there for a bit, Hambly, Mike Abrahams, Gus, Fred Kim, Gunni (the first E30S50 I knew of), Neil M (he became a cop), Rob Ward, Henri Juhnkalla (bought a 750, what a dumbass), Joost Buntix, Paal Berg (used to debate politics with him), Tjaard, Gerg (of course), Brendan, Randy Sparre (never liked his car but it was the original over the top E30), Randy Walters, Eric G, Calvin and Chris from Malaysia (the original M20 GODS), Pinder posted a lot, Elukas, that Bloodline kid (he used his name on BEN).
I know I am forgetting people but those were what I could come up with picking my brain for a bit thinking of people you dont see anymore (I still chat with some of them on ICQ). I came onto BEN as a complete noob. I remember I went on there originally just to change my bumpers.
That site had a very international membership. Im surprised it stayed as civil and friendly as it was (it was much more newb frendly than here). Its hard to believe I have had this car for 6 years.
Im gonna start posting on there again, I miss that site. peter is still on there (w00t!)Last edited by Ryan Stewart; 03-27-2006, 09:55 PM.Im now E30less.

It's funny how we are talking like this stuff was decades ago, like war veterans talk about things that happened 50 years ago. But you are right, 6 years does seem like a long time.

Man, I remember Tjaard from all the UK forums, and I remember when the Zone split from the BMWCar mag forum.
I only remember E3s from around 1999 or so, but found the Is it safe thing hilarious, hell, he had the member title when they were impossible to get!

I came to e3s after the fall of BEN so I am less of an old schooler here. Kyle(bimmer8604) brought me here when I couldnt get BENs forum software to work after Jaffar and Toby got it running again.
And at our ages it might as well be vietnam. 6 years is a lot when its still a quarter of your whole life. :)Im now E30less.
