Best way to ship large things cross country?

I have a lot of things that I left at my parents house back in Rhode Island when I moved, and I want it out here now. It's mostly car parts and tools, but it's a lot of pieces with quite a bit of weight to it all. I don't think it would all fit on one pallet unless the pallet was quite tall, so I'm expecting I'll have to use either 2 pallets or one of the over-sized ones.

The largest thing I've shipped cross country before is wheels, can any of the main shippers like UPS and FedEx ship pallets? Any ideas on what their rates would be for something like that?

I found a company called Forward Air that seems to do cheap airport - airport shipping; Their website sucks on mobile so I've been waiting to get to a real computer to check into it further. It looks like you need a membership to use them, but I can't find what's required to get a membership.

Are there any other ways that I'm overlooking?

Maybe you'll get lucky and she'll be the one picking up your shipment http://www.aetv.com/shipping-wars/ca...a-robbie-welsh

I've actually used uship to ship a transmission from California to nw Indiana. Got a pretty good deal, way cheaper than ups freight, fedex, etc...

I'm actually using it again to find a car shipper to get my newly acquired e30 to the midwest.

The last shop i worked at (motorcycles) had a nationwide customer base so we shipped quite a few crated motorcycles before and after the work we did. Forward air was who we used the most because of good pricing and service.

I would recommend them for your situation.

Do you know anything about the membership Lorin? I'm right near John Wayne airport so it's no big deal to have to go there to get everything.

We ship pallets and larger boxes a couple times a month, usually use Custom Co. ( https://www.customco.com/ )

I will have an engine/trans shipped to the OC from MA, if you want to add a fewthings to my pallet(you will have to bring them to MA) I can probably have it added on for free unless its super heavy.

              Let me know
