I switched out of engineering for business once, then switched back and eventually got my master in mech eng. Worth the effort and time.
Advice, keep the partying to days ending in y and actually do the homework and reading when you can. Also be careful about your class scheduling, sometimes even that 9AM class is tough to get to more than a few times in a semester especially if you have to walk across campus past the breakfast place on an empty stomach.

Same at my school - first year was kind of a weeding out. I think the class size dropped 50% or so after the year. I think it was mostly people realizing that eng. wasn't for them.
Not sure how your school works, but for us, first year was fairly general so that people could switch majors within engineering without repeating a year. So like that I had a lot of courses i hated. But past first year it got super interesting and now i'm extremely glad i did it. (almost done).Leave a comment:

From what Ive experienced so far, a majority of the engineer majors switch out after Freshmen level classes. I hope you enjoy calculus, statics and physics to name a few.Leave a comment:

Whats up everyone ! My name is Richard and I'll be starting college here somewhat soon (August 24th) at UC Merced, which is about a 7 hour drive from where I live and I was wondering if anyone had any useful college tips for me ? I made it into the school of engineering and am hoping to major in mechanical engineering by the way. Thanks you guys for any feedback (:Tags: None
