    fucking idiots

that said from what I understand this particular strain of ebola will not be supper infectious in a 1st world nation where there is lots of sanitation since its spread via bodily fluid contact.

I for one am not excited at the idea of fighting deadly strains of Ebola. I can barely fight a headache correctly.

Ebola is not that dangerous for a first world country. I did A LOT of research on it my senior year of high school for a 15 page paper and a presentation I had to give to the entire school. Read endless books, interviewed specialists (authors and Dr.), and so on.
Its only spread through body fluids, and even then the virus dies quickly in UV. With an educated public that does not believe in which craft and does not have a very deep distrust of any form of government like people do in Africa, a modern medical system, and generally sanitary environment, I dont see much chance of this being a huge epidemic in the US. Not even a small epidemic.
While it is a nasty sickness its incubation period is short and the time it takes to display visible symptoms is fast, so it can not spread very fare before it is noticed and contained.

What they aren't telling you is it's not actually Ebola, it's the T-Virus. We will all be zombies soon enough.

I would love to believe that. We are told that direct contact is required and the various ebola viruses do not mutate quickly. The particular strain involved in this outbreak is similar to the Zaire strain, or very close. It is considered the most deadly with a ~70% mortality rate.

A study was published in 2012 suggesting that direct contact is not necessary. See link:

article: Under conditions of the current study, transmission of ZEBOV could have occurred either by inhalation (of aerosol or larger droplets), and/or droplet inoculation of eyes and mucosal surfaces and/or by fomites due to droplets generated during the cleaning of the room. Infection of all four macaques in an environment, preventing direct contact between the two species and between the macaques themselves, supports the concept of airborne transmission.
Several reports and comments from researchers have suggested that this is a new strain that can be transmitted via airborne droplets.

I am also surprised at the number of physicians and healthcare workers infected. That suggests that direct contact may not be necessary. These people are educated about the direct contact transmission and are still becoming infected.

Ebola kills 90% of its hosts, but because it does it so quickly, it doesn't have time to find another host to replicate in. I read the book called The Hot Zone in 8th grade and I was actually infatuated with it for a brief bit. Scary for sure, but the CDC doesn't waste time to make sure it is quarantined. I'm not worried. I have flesh eating bacteria at my beaches to worry about down here. Gah.

lol! I am a pharmacist that practices primarily in a hospital setting. I spend a bit of time focused on infectious diseases. While we have created some multi-drug resistant bacterial strains, they are not viruses. This is an interesting topic.

This potential transmission through droplets is quite a bit different than direct contact with bodily secretions. It is also NOT what is being communicated by the CDC. This could make it quite difficult to contain.

Only a week or so has passed since the passenger on the plane to Nigeria vomited. What will become of the other passengers? All have not been located.

And, the CDC is not having a good year taking care of the deadly strains of bacteria and viruses they keep. Bringing infected people into another country seems like an unnecessary risk. But, at least they are known to be infected.
