Race MK1 swap

That's awesome! It looks like you need a new tach to go with the new motor though.Leave a comment:

The swap is complete! We ran into a snag setting the first motor up. The first motor was a more tame 11.1 compression. The builder made a crucial mistake setting the timing and bent a valve :(. So he had to swap in his other more radical 13.1 motor in it's place :). He adjusted the timing down to make it more friendly and now I'm able to run a 50/50 mix of race fuel and 93 octane.
The power difference between my 1641 air cooled and this motor is off the charts. This motor red lines at 9,000 rpm and is making 180hp.
The only downside is my stock clutch can not handle the power. But lucky for me he has a clutch setup that will handle the power. I'll have to wait until he returns from racing this weekend to have it installed.

A little video of the swap running, mic could not get the sound right......

I meant the one for sale!!! yours looks like a DCOE 45? That would be a good upgrade from the downdraft 32/36 that is a common upgrade for a regular old 1.6Leave a comment:

Carb is getting gravity fed at the moment. An electric fuel pump will be installed tomorrow.
I also need to clarify about the shims on the Alpha lifters. The lifters do have shims but they are internal or beneath the puck. There is no need for adjustments either.Leave a comment:

She's alive! Next on the list is water plumbing and suspension. Re-fabricating the engine cage and wiring the gauges will be last. She sounds really healthy, still need fine tuning of course but the cam sounds really nice in person.

He has one for $120. It's a dual port. I got his last sidedraft carb.Im looking for a sidedraft, single or dual doesnt matter. I am still toying with the idea of using the ITBs and my megasquirt, but I want to make it look correct for the era.
I was born and raised in Northern California, live in Southern California, but I dont think thats what you're asking me. I'm AssyrianLeave a comment:

Where are you from 2mAn? Your roadster build looks promising. Are you looking for downdraft or sidedraft intakes for the carb? I'm sure he has both. He did say sidedraft intakes are easier to tune and run smoother. He also has extra shimless Alfa Romero style lifters. I guess at high revs shims could separate and wreak havoc. He had a batch made up when they used to race these motors.Leave a comment:

These are nice accesories and not too much money, though always something you can upgrade later.

The lightweight intermediate shaft pulley is from Autotech and the underdriven crank pulley is from Lella Autosport
The shaved down intermediate shaft was one of a run that a friend made a while ago. Like I said earlier, nothing magical, but every little bit helps with these small engines

Heres the link to my project. Its been stagnant since I got my E30 back, but Im going to start on the frame soon. Im eager to finish it, but its a side project so funds are low on the list
