Pronouncing "Le Mans"

I have heard multiple pronunciations of Le Mans said from both youtube and in conversation with people. Personally, I say "la maans/maan" (that's phonetic) or (la maw) depending on how I feel. Typically la maans Syracuse accent included.

Seems like something is lost in translation. How do you say it?

Depends who I'm talking to. If the person I'm talking to isn't into racing or French, I'll say "Le Mahns", if they are in the know I will say "Le Maw".

Say Chautauqua. There's American Indian named towns all over the country, there's nothing special about Wisconsin. What's special is how Americans say LeMans. The S is silent. GM should have never produced the LeMans, no one back then in this country even knew what that race was.
