    Volvo 244dl should I buy?

I'm looking at a 85 244dl as a family Daily driver I was wondering if you guys know of the common stuff that goes wrong get with them and stuff to look out for?

And before I get crap for wanting an old volvo as a daily, my excuse is the wife loves the car.

you don't need excuses! they are awesome. I loved how relaxed I was behind the wheel because they are soooo slow. Not like the e30 where I feel like I drive like a dick now.

Watch out for the wire harness. They tend to deteriorate. Also, rust. Besides that, they are very simple to work on and last forever.

My advice. They are 30 year old cars and the going price for one maintained vs. one that's neglected is not much. They are all cheap. Go for the one with records and maintenance. Well worth the extra cash upfront.

From what if read on swedespeed is the harness, relays, tail lights and the flame trap thing are the big ones to watch out for I wish that forum was as organized as r3v though-_-

I have a 240 Wagon I bought for $500 running and driving . and the interior is mint . But its a shitbox . I wanted something cheap , reliable , ok on gas (less the ok on gas in reality ) . Needed a blower motor , that sucked to do . Needs to have the front end rebuilt (parts are cheap tho) . Needed a whole exhaust . Has 300k on it all New England miles. Engine and Trans are plenty healthy. Little to no rust surprisingly , BUY A NEWER 240 the older ones rust and ARENT as reliable .

It's just gonna be a winter beater. I would spend more
Money to get a nicer one IMO .
