I'm in the city proper, we've only received about 6" so far. But storm #2 is coming tonight through Friday, seems like we'll finally get hit.

There is a literal wall of clouds/snow a mile or so south of downtown. It's insane. I'll share some choice pics from friends



My buddy took this yesterday morning, it has kept snowing since then. He said it took him 3 hours just to get to his X5m to retrieve his laptop

I can't believe more snow is coming. I am already burned out on summer. I was stuck in twenty mile an hour traffic the entire drive home. I understand you need to exercise caution, but if you are that scared of driving in the snow, STAY HOME.

Lake Erie is an amazing thing. these are the buffalo storm clouds, about one hour away driving (maybe 70-90 KM) When I got to the lake shore, you could see how black it was in the sky and just white to the shore of the lake which had one meter waves at shore.

Saw this pic this morning. Blew my mind at the amount of snow. If California ever snowed over like this it really would be hell freezing over.

im pretty jealous, i would like some snow fall in Portland this year.

What neighborhood do you live in? I'm in Clarence now (just moved out of Depew), and we only have any 6 inches.

Live in Wales, just south of East Aurora. Work in Orchard Park. We have about 2-3 feet here now. Just started snowing again pretty heavily.

Well yeah there was the blizzard of 78 was a "nor-easter" that whipped the ass of the NE and upper mid west, but the blizzard of 76 was a western/Northern NY Ontario deal that was even worse for that area. Had Low pressures at the heart of the storm normally only seen in sever hurricanes and shit. Yeah I had to go look all this shit up ;) both were a couple of years before my time

Just glad I moved to FL in 1989, and it just so happened to snow in Tampa Bay that year lol. Hadn't seen snow since up until a death in the family last May had me up in Boston and it snowed while I was there. Yup, was reminded that I didn't miss it.

I'm from the southtowns area myself, my family still lives in Elma. My mom measured the snow fall in her driveway yesterday morning. 5.5 feet of snow!!

I remember that, was living in New England at the time. My mum was preggo with my little brother and one of her maternity friends had to be transported to the hospital on a snowmobile to have her baby.

EDIT: You had it right the first time, it was 1978 ;)

Will come close in localized areas but this still does not surpass the blizzard of 76, ( much more wide spread and up to a 100 inches in 48 hours) I know this was 20 years before most kiddos on here were even contemplated, (I remember being very little an people still talking about this every big winter storm was on the out look but little snow fall predicted) but this is not out of the ordinary for western NY and happens form time to time.

Hope you all stay safe and warm dont need to venture out too much. This looks like its going to be another LONG 1970's style winter.
