    New winter beater

I've always wanted a Subaru as a winter car but never committed to one until a few days ago. I searched Craigslist and found this lightly modified bugeye wrx.
I don't mind suspension mods but I always steer clear from engine mods. I paid a little more than I originally planed but this one had it's timing done less than 1000 miles ago with receipts.
It has Raceland coilovers and a few other suspension mods. I slapped on a set of snow tires and had a blast with the recent snow fall.
I really should have bought one of these a lot sooner, very fun little car. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.......

That's a good looking bug-eye. Normally the bug eye lenses have clouded over and every part of the car is plasti-dipped, as well as bumpers and trim struggling holding on to the chassis.

How do the racelands handle? Lots of bump steer?

They handle well, no bump steer but on a cement expressway I do get an annoying bounce. It seems to happen only on cement and never asphalt. I don't really notice it while street driving.

I to always had an interest in getting one of these. I was always "counseled" by my brother to never get one, citing engine issues? Maybe one day, looks good, and I bet its a blast in the snow.

Blown transmissions are the most common problem that steered me away from them. Love the cars otherwise.

The bugeye wrx was always my favorite subaru, looks like a nice pickup! I never trust engine work on them either unless they are done by well known shops like Cobb. It's also pretty sad a majority of the ones in my area are not taken care of or have salvaged titles.

For awhile before I bought my e39 wagon I wanted to get a 05/06 Legacy 2.5gt wagon. My uncle has one and I really liked it.

I have not taken the time to adjust the coilovers yet, really not looking forward to doing it either. I hope it goes smoothly when the time comes.

This is primarily the reason it took me so long to finally own one. Sometimes you gotta say Fu*k it and just do it!

Get rid of the 04-05 style hood scoop and put an OEM one back on.

Good choice in a winter car though, I had an 02 WRX a few years back and it was unstoppable in the snow.

Looks good to me, it functions, it's real carbon fiber and probably cost a lot, so no sense in spending unnecessary money.
