Pretty sharp idea but something tells me this is very old tech, for instance look at the YF-12, made in the mid sixties. An SF guy told me once, "any highspeed gear you see us use is at-least 5yrs old"

I've heard the same but we haven't even seen this come to main stream commercial use yet so this would be exciting! Space flight being a walk in the park potentially being that much closer for us with this.
