Cross posting this from here in case anyone is into tube amps:
Hi,
I've long appreciated audio and have decided to delve into building my own tube amplifier kit. I got into audio because my mom worked for bang and olufsen in brussels back in the late 70s/ early 80s and I inherited all the equipment she used to sell. I think I killed the beomaster 1900 with too many dorm room parties in my 20s
Anyways, I picked up this 6n9p+EL34 13Wx2 HiFi Tube Amplifier Kit on ebay as a christmas present to myself.
My idea was to pair it with these Bose 6.2 I picked up off craigslist and make a nice little system for my desk. My audio source for now will be spotify on high-definition + a FiiO D3 DAC. Nothing too fancy :tresbon:
My background is european automotive and mechanical refrigeration.
I'll track the (hopeful) progress of my build on this thread:

update:
I found some documents online that I'm using to guide me through the build. I'll also try to post relevant pictures to help anyone else who is building the kit (please point out any errors you might see)
Schematic that I found online which matched the little the seller gave me:
Seller provided Schematics:
My Progress:

Transformers & wood paneling on (not pictured: my bruised hand from the sharp edges - haha)
*tip make sure the metal frame is square before attaching the wood sides, mine now sits a bit askew :-/

Notice the orientation of the transformers by their wire color/count. Also the "H5" is mounted upside down below the transformer. The bulb sockets have the #1 terminal at the 7 o'clock position from this vantage point.
I also picked up some rubber grommets from Radio Shack to protect the wires as they protruded through the stainless casing:

Work Space turning into a bit of a mess:

I also picked up some electronics board from the shack to clean up the capacitor wiring (upper left hand area)

Detail of the Left (or right? lol no clue) channel:

Wiring Complete (atleast no parts are left - yay!)

With tubes installed:

Test Run (Excuse the song, it was stuck in my head during the build process)
That glow :)

C&C welcome
Currently paired up with spofity on max bitrate, a fiio dac and my macbook pro. Listening to some of my favorite Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck or even Emma Shaplin brings out color that I had never noticed. Quite enjoyable! Now I haven't had much listening time with the bose 6.2 nor tube amps at all, so my review only carries so much water. That said, no weird humms, distortion etc. All in all I'm a happy :)
