taking the GRE exam

Does anyone know of some good resources to study and prepare for this exam? Who has taken it? How was it?

I took it, twice.

The math was cake, similar to SAT math (basic geometry, trig, word problems, etc.), and the verbal was a bit tricky. What is different about the GREs is that it's a dynamcial test, where the problems get harder if you answer them correctly, or get easier if you bomb a few.

I didn't study for either of the times I took it. I suppose I could have bumped up my verbal score a bit, but it would have taken a lot of studying for very little gain. Since I was applying to engineering graduate programs, I figure they wouldn't look at verbal as much as the math score, which proved to be to my advantage.

Look over a few of the math problems to get acquainted with the set up, start reading more, and be sure to get a good night sleep prior to the test. It isn't the sort of test you can cram the night before for.

I need to make a 1000 minimum to get into the school or anything higher to be competitive.

I will be taking it in fall/winter. Kaplan is probably the biggest name in test preparation. They have online courses and classes taught at most universities. I've heard rumors of them going back to a standard test instead of the dynamic one. Good luck and practice vocabulary!

Ill be taking it as well this coming winter. Ill definately be investing in the test prep books. Everyone at my school says they are well worth the cash.
