          yer 325 has LESS pickup than yer 318i...u must have one beat-ass 325 then. an m20b25 has WAY more get-up and go than an m42, and an m20b27 has even more get-up, just no top-end.

            meh, its up and running again. like most M42's, if the bobble and act up, they often fix themselves and run perfectly for the rest of thier lives without constant repair, unlike m20's

              The m20 vs. m42 debate will always rage, so why fuel the fire boys?

              That being said I prefer my 42. Ive owned a 325is, 325ix and now my 318is. By far and away the best car for daily flogging is the 318is.

                325 is an Automatic(Flame me if you want, its my fiancee's) and the 318 is 5 speed.....That may be it.....
