How the fuck do I get the DVD player to enlarge the image in fullscreeen mode?

I was going to use this G4 that is on the desk to watch movies while I am working on real computer but when I go to fullscreen it stays the max window size and to keep AR it adds black bars to the sides. So I have a little picture surrounded by black.

The thing doesnt realize its a fucking widescreen. How do I beat that into it?

Is the movie you're watching widescreen? Apple + 0 = fullscreen, you might just be doing max size.

its a widescreen movie and it does this in fullscreen mode. When not in fullscreen it fits trim to the actual image making the window wider.
