I have a 1987 K100rs, thing kicksazz! I can keep up with the squids and put a 12 pack in each saddlebag and it has heated grips, progressive suspension, Supertrapp etc..
I have the opportunity to buy a 2001 K1200RS, RED low miles, heated grips and even faster. I can also jump at a late 90s R1150RT, more touring-like, also red, heated grips, bags, cruise, tilt windshield. Both within my price range, both pretty desirable.
Good: 1200RS is wicked fast.
Bad: Not comfy for the rear passenger (wife)
Good: 1150RT is quick, not blistering, comfy for both and offers more protection on cold mornings and in the rain.
Bad: Its a touring bike, not quite a Barcolounger 1000, but different for me.
Which way would you go?
Dan
