    Tech savy folks

OkI have an older Toshiba net book that I use for on the road browsing it. It's gotten slower over the years of use but I keep it update and virus free.

Chrome browser seems to eat all the CPU processor if I have more than two screens open.

When I go to the control panel it will show 7 or 8 chrome actions open to browse the net.

Is there a better windows based browser out there?

Not really. Chrome is the best by far in my opinion. Sounds like it's time for an erase and install.

Yup, format and reinstall just the bare necessities. Upgrade the ram too if it is less than 4gb. I'm assuming this is a windows 7 laptop? The processor shouldn't be an issue if it is fairly new.

Windows 7 basic netbox like it because of size and full keyboard.

Seriously, it's really helpful, getting rid of all the bloatware, and ditching anything you don't need.

When I had a windows PC for personal use I used the program "CCleaner" every few weeks to delete all the junk that builds up on your computer. It would regularly delete a gig+ of junk and speed everything up...

Chrome is a RAM hog. How much ram do you have currently? You can check how much memory each tab uses by opening the chrome task manager from the top left menu > more tools.

wait another month or so and get free upgrade to windows 10 (probably? not sure if they'll push it to netbooks, I assume they will) and just use Edge

edit: couple of months is more likely

If browsing speed is important to you—and it should be—you'll probably be interested to know that there are ten simple flag modifications you can make in Google Chrome in order to achieve the fastest browsing speed possible. A few months ago, Dallas covered six ways to speed up the Chrome mobile browser on a Nexus 5, and if they're good enough for his Android phone, they're good enough for our desktops. Below, I'll show you how to enable them, along with a few other speed-increasing tips.

how would upgrading to a newer operating system allow the computer to work faster? New OS's on an older, outdated hardware fitted computer will ALWAYS slow it down further.
