I think you can sometimes see small improvements, but it's not going to suddenly make the computer act like it's got 64gb of RAM, and the newest processor.

Not the case. Win 7 is considerably heavier than win 8 and 10
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Yep. Last I heard, end of July is the launch date. They are designing it to work with both standard computers and low power tablets. That's why it's lighter on systems.

One thing I'm kinda curious of is, how are they handling the upgrade of 7/8. Install wise, like how are they removing 7 and all the associated aspects of it without messing up personal files.

Personally, I have always used Windows XP and 7 Ultimate on my machines. My desktop I use for games runs 7 Ultimate, as does my laptop. I find if I back up everything I want and completely reinstall windows every 6 months or so it keeps things running very quick. Just an idea.. I've always done that with my phones too.

for a long time you would have notice that Windows saves all your important information under c:\users\"Username"

This format has not changed in years so as long as it dose not change an upgrade is very simple.

But from my experience as working on a IT help desk. Back your shit up....

Duh. My thinking was making it way more complicated than it would need to be. But, with the upgrade, is software being carried over as well? I would assume so. I haven't looked into it much, all I've heard is "oh you can just upgrade from 7 to 10." I've been a little skeptical on how thorough the upgrade is.

Only reason I'm curious is I want to build a computer this summer but I don't want to wait until the beginning of August to load 10. But at the same time I don't really want to load 8.1 just to update to 10 in a month.

Yes it should carry over but it is never a 100% grantee I would just build the 8.1 pc then upgrade when 10 comes out. Just be prepared if it dose not go to plan.

interesting, I just did some research. I wouldn't say considerably, as windows 8 and 10 are comparably the same size to 7.

software size to resources used do not go hand in hand.

Common misconception of people who do not know what they are talking about. ;)

I was talking about RAM usage, but it's cool.

Found a good comparison of 7 vs 8.1. It really depends on what your main use case will be. I game and use it for media, of course. Videos and audio are fine so no need for me to go 8.1 for performance needs. I don't encode often and it really isn't that big a chore either.

Win 7 with minimal OS procs works fine for me.

Windows 8 vs. Windows 7 comparison in terms of speed and performance. Windows 8 has a faster performance but is slower for 3D and high res gaming

yea I run W7 on pretty much all computers that I have built, including my gaming rig. I don't need ease, I just need simplicity for gaming/modeling programs

It's all down to your use of the system. If I ever saw a need for a tablet that my phone couldn't handle, it would probably be a stern discussion with myself to justify even the 80 bones to have an extra device vs. living with a stupid deficiency. But that's just me. Everyone is very different.

Besides, I am old school and always wait for the "odd generation" with Microsoft OS'. Note that the only two odd balls became the basis for Server OS' that I do not list below only because the "desktop Market" no longer require such precision at the risk of losing certain functions. It was a rough time back then. ;>
