    This is vintage tools.

Sitting at work this morning looking through my tools, and thought I would share.

This was given to me by a room mate a few years ago. He was moving out and was tired of hauling it around. It was passed down from his Grandfather.

I use it to hold random items. Thought about restoring it but always come to the decision its best to leave it showing its years of use.

I have some other items I will share. Funny thing, all of my really old tools are Snap-On. I still use them daily. There really isn't anything else that holds up. I had a Matco ratchet last 10 years, which for the average Joe seems like a great value. Then I consider that I use a Snap-On ratchet that dates back to World War II, there just isn't a comparison.

So, post up your hand me down tools. Its pretty fascinating to think about all the curse words and bloody knuckles they have seen dating back through our fathers and their fathers!

I have some older stuff as well, but just moved so its all boxed up. Love older tools, and keep that box original.

No photos, but my 1/2" drive standard socket set is '50s-60s Power Kraft, which was Montgomery Wards equivalent to Craftsman. One of my tool boxes is a full Craftsman stack my Dad bought new in '73, complete with vintage racing stickers, and from back when Craftsman boxes didn't suck so bad. My Snap-On 1/2" drive ratchet was surplus out of GM from the late '80s, its somewhat unique for not having a chrome finish. I used to have a S&K 1/2" ratchet with a sweet painted wooden handle, but it got stolen at a drag strip years ago with a bunch of other tools.

            I have a 1/2" drill from WEN.

It has separate switches for each brush...so to go from forward to reverse, you have to switch both, its hilarious.

I will see if I can dig it out and post it up. Dude I spoke to at WEN said "it has to be before 1930, our records go back that far"

My GF's Grand father gave this to me. Pretty cool, not really sure what it's purpose was.
I think it was something that has to do with aviation.

A little more round and you could use it as a coilover wrench ha!

My recently deceased grandfather has loads of old tools, I'll have to take some pictures.

rolls royce built large piston aircraft engines during ww2. they started building jet engines soon after. likely it is a special tool for one or the other.

my first thought was that it was for threading on the propeller retainer nut or something on the old merlins, but i don't think you'd be able to get enough clamping force with a wrench so short

so i did some more digging for curiosity's sakes and found this website:

                        which has this

listed as a 'prop shaft rotating tool' for rotating the crank while the prop's off. think that's a new age version of larsen's old timey coilover wrench?

The only other Rolls Royce spanners I can find are for doing water pumps but, they're not spring adjustable.

It's a 66 Snap On KR500 and KR500A it's missing the center section but could careless.

I did well at the auction last week. $10 for the 1hp grinder and stand. I also got the contents of the dyno room with lots of cool tools. Can you help identify the SnapOn box and vintage. I can only find #s on the back of the top box that is KRA 510 and it also has a 65 after USA. Gotta love the...
