    XP: this copy is not genuine...

    My mother installed some windows update that is now telling her that her version of XP pro is counterfeit (duh.. computer came with home). OTHER than buying it, how can i get rid of this crap?

          MS won't help you validate pirated copies. There was a way around it but not anymore.

              I've heard that if you turn off automatic updates, they can't tell.
