    Got a new toy...

Picked it up on Tuesday. Its only been 2 full days and i've got about 275 miles on it with 1 canyon run and misc driving from LA to Orange County. It gets between 40 - 50 mpg depending on riding. Its a 2006 Triumph Daytona 675. PLEASE, as much as you guys care, don't tell me to "be careful". I swear.. i've heard it more times in 2 days than i've heard in my entire life.

I got pulled over within the first 2 hours due to lack of plates. Cop was cool once he saw my temporary registration. I was riding w/ my friend who has an Aprilia Falco SLR1000. He ALWAYS carries a digicam in his pocket for times like this...

I paid $10,400 out the door for the bike (all DMV/tax fees included). They let my finance an extra $1K on top of that for gear/accessories/first service. Fucking awesome shop... If you're ever looking for a triumph, goto South Bay Triumph in Lomita (assuming you're in my neck of the woods). The owner is hard core. He even gave me free oil/filter changes for life! How can you beat that?

Nice lookin bike. I've heard the euro bikes aren't quite on par with the japs as far as performance. But regardless, it's hot. A guy here at school drives a yellowish (darker than normal) one.

Nice. My next door neighbor has a yellow one. We've done a few track days this year (I have an 03 636) and the Triumph is definitely a sick track weapon. Very fast, turn ins are extremely quick, and the grunt out of the turns is impressive. Triumph finally got it right with this one. have fun!

You'd be surprised. Checkout any of the 600-class shootouts and this bike really shines. With any 4-cyl jap bike, you'll need to wind the thing out to make good power... not much USABLE torque down low. Sure, they may have top end, but where are you going to be able to use all that? Unless you're in an environment (high speed track, lots of straight roads), you'll want a v-twin. While this bike has 3 cylinders, it still has some torque like a twin, but also some top-end like a 4-cyl jap bike.

This bike redlines at around 14K, dynos around 108 at the rear wheel, had a FAT midrange, is capable of 165+mph on stock gearing, gets 45+mpg, weighs only 390# with a full tank (an aftermarket pipe takes 11# off easilly), and looks HELLA good. Try finding all that in your typical jap bike. If you compare dyno charts of this bike against 4-cyl jap bikes, this bike has more power across the board until MAYBE the very top.

Of my 4 biker friends, they collectively have over 25 years experience (some track too), and they have ALL owned 4-cyls, but now ride v-twins. That really says something to me about what's important in a bike.

that is an awesome bike and the sickest Triumph for sure. They made so many improvements over the previous Daytona that it almost looks like a mix of Ducati with Kawi which is a great. Now get some crash bars (Triumph bodywork is always on back order) and make sure you wear some good gloves (I like the Dainese jacket) !

                      Have fun !

Once i'm past break-in and feeling a little more comfortable, i'll be attending a track day with my shop. They're organizing one in a few months I think. I think this is a new start for Triumph. They definately hit the nail on the head!

You know what's lame though? Triumph made 4,000 of these things, they're ALL sold out (I got one of the last 10 in socal), and I haven't seen a single one on the street. People just go and buy these things up and leave them in the garage or keep them on display. What a shame...

I just got the swingarm sliders... installing the frame sliders over the weekend.

That cop looks familiar to me, dunno why.

If you've never done a track day on a bike, you're going to be really stoked. Get ready to have another really expensive hobby. Track days on bike make everything else look boring - driving, street riding etc. I've done a few over the years and have done 5 this year and am totally addicted. Its expensive, but there isn't anything I've done that is more fun. Last track day I was at, there were 4 Daytons 675s!
Definitely get frame sliders though. It will save you a lot of $$ in case something bad happens.
