School me on the E70 x5 Diesel....

Well I figured I'd ask around here since I trust more of you guys than other forums.

What is your take on the E70 (2008-2013) X5? More specifically the xDrive diesel variants of the M57N2 engine. Heading towards diesel, basically for towing ability (always need more e30's) and the overall fuel economy. PLUS, these things are depreciating faster than a hungry fat kid at a golden corral. Typically going for around $25k and under 100k. They are just a bit harder to find in the wild than the gas versions, but there still are a bunch out there.

I'm looking to trade in my '08 Audi A4 and finding one from a dealer. My plan is to keep this thing as my daily for well over the next 5 years- or until diesel becomes obsolete in the US (Thanks VAG for ruining everything) So I want to make sure that it will last me for the foreseeable future.

Anyone have any experience owning one or knowing much about them? Common issues? Longevity?

    Just curious- Thanks!

Just threw this on the General Discussion Forum for more traction.

Just make sure you get one CPO or with a really good aftermarket warranty.

          +1000000

Dad leased one from new, loved it, bought it back and after 3 years decided that lease and repeat is less aggravating. Lots of control unit issues, water leaking into ECU box (it was an aquarium), urea system faults. Great power and great to drive through, good MPG for what it is. This isn't a DIY-maintenance friendly vehicle.

          Keep it slideways!!

I hear US Fidelis is supposed to be good.

One search of US Fidelis says they suck.

I hear Carmax offers a good pre-owned warranty per Doug DeMuro.

There was another one we liked when I worked in service can't think of it now.
