This. Nothing I've encountered has been put together half as thoroughly. Everything is bolted or clamped to everything around it. It makes for a really solid feeling car. It also makes removing the engine take three times longer than it does in almost anything else.

The Turbo S is becoming a valuable collectible. I'm knee deep in a factory+ rebuild on mine (K27/6, Tial F38, iron liners, new forged pistons, etc). With the increasing rarity and climbing prices I suppose it'll be worth it. Can't wait to get behind the wheel.

Nothing to add about Evo's other than they look pretty sweet.

If you want a classic German sports car the 951 in any form is a really cool machine. But for a daily driver, I guess it depends on how much punishment you are willing to endure.

Lol, that photo brings back awful memories! Funny that someone took the time to demonstrate it though.

    Ls3 951? Yes please.

All this said, I got to drive a well sorted S2 with a fresh engine in my early wrenching days at a performance shop. It was an awesome car! That big 4 cylinder (3.0l) left its mark.

Evo. Having seen the hassle involved in making a 944 Turbo fast, and not being a fan of the cramped engine bay and turbo placement (under the intake manifold) I would avoid them. Good candidates for an engine swap, though.

I've had a few 944's but never a 951, personally I'd take the evo all day long. Although handling wise I'd put all my money on the 951 when there set up correctly they are absolutely incredible in the bends. I feel like evo's are so much better to mod and can take a lot more punishment. There's also so much more aftermarket parts out there for the evo's.

Honestly if I were to own either they would have to be daily-able, reliable, and quality in stock form. I have to say though the Porsche and Evo both lack in the interior department.

If modded I wouldn't go past basic bolt-ons and suspension. Nothing irreversible as being in CA is just a pain just getting things to pass the smog regulations.

Never messed with those but yes.

If looking to just buy the car and enjoy it as it was designed, the 951 is great. That said, its a modifiers nightmare. Lots of money for mediocre results. The one I worked on still isn't running right due to a lack of good Tuning solutions. If it were my car, I would say throw Megasquirt at it and the car would probably be pretty awesome. Still though, it was a shit ton of effort to work on.

I won't deny, they are very cool cars.

FC Rx7's always had my interest. Don't think I'll own one, but I've considered swapping a 13b into the Miata.

Sounds like a 951 would be more comparable to an FC rx7 in that case.

Also, the 4g63 is legendary. I have considered an Evo or even 1/2g DSM's.

but 4 banger tarbros. Sometimes I feel like 951s dont get any love. Out of the box in stock form the Evo has the 951 on handling, but in power the Porsche will walk an Evo. Reliability wise they're equal?

In the looks department honestly I think the 951 wins with a more classic design. Evos are just too "boy racer" cop magnets.
