Wouldn't it be nice if the populace was just intelligent and educated enough to read, research, and evaluate arguments in order to better understand them rather than blindly accepting what is driven into them? Is it that hard to think logically and use reason to decide if someone is feeding you horse-crock or the truth?

On one side, there is the bible-beating Republicans thinking gay marriage is wrong and should be illegal, or society will crumble from it, while they still lie and cheat and steal employee's pensions. Then there is the liberal, pot-smoking conspiracy-theorists who believe Bush planned 9-11 when he can barely pronounce anything correctly, and just is a puppet. They can read one crackpot website and be so sure of the "truth" it presents.

It's unforunate no one tries to educate the public on any issue, and just hurl campaign slogans at all the time, or sling mud at each other... or allude to the bible or terrorism, or our freedom being stolen.

the government sometimes passes things people don't like or understand. they may be more educated on the subject (i.e. supply-side economics - sounds bad to the public or media would like to broadcast such... but those who study the Laffer Curve know better.) then we just need to trust them because they know better... but others we need to contact our representatives and tell them what we want or actually VOTE, otherwise we have no room to bitch

What's truly sad about this flash video is the amount of people who have been passing it around and believing it. I laugh at it, and was happily surprised to a lot of people calling bullshit it on it. Same with the Al Gore crap that Tangent disputed quite well. Check out info on the DU:

        Propaganda.
"Depleted uranium is a heavy metal that is also slightly radioactive. Heavy metals (uranium, lead, tungsten, etc.) have chemical toxicity properties that, in high doses, can cause adverse health effects. Depleted uranium that remains outside the body can not harm you.

A common misconception is that radiation is depleted uranium's primary hazard. This is not the case under most battlefield exposure scenarios. Depleted uranium is approximately 40 percent less radioactive than natural uranium. Depleted uranium emits alpha and beta particles, and gamma rays. Alpha particles, the primary radiation type produced by depleted uranium, are blocked by skin, while beta particles are blocked by the boots and battle dress utility uniform (BDUs) typically worn by service members. While gamma rays are a form of highly-penetrating energy , the amount of gamma radiation emitted by depleted uranium is very low. Thus, depleted uranium does not significantly add to the background radiation that we encounter every day."
I'm no expert on the subject, but I know well enough not to trust a flash movie... there are a lot of bogus crap on the internet, speaking of conspiracies from Dave Chappelle to 9-11. Especially with subjects that take a lot of knowledge to understand, people can feed "facts" to the less intelligent and they will accept it.

propaganda: The spreading of information or ideas, sometimes false or exaggerated, in a way meant to make others accept them.

        study on it: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/l...9_t0415gwi.htm

those birth defects aren't necessarily blamed on radiation. Supposedly there is a high correlation with incest / inbreeding with the same ancestory... aka wouldn't be surprised if there is a fair amount of people doing that in a closed ethnic group.

If someone uneducated and illogical watched and believed that video because of the ethos it attempted to use, they would be tricked by someone with little info or expertise on the subject, just trying to mislead people.

In fact, the owner of the site has no formal education, and is just a freelance webdesigner who lives with two cats and hates Bush. it comes from someone who knows nothing but internet crap (much like his intended audience he wants to persaude)

So how is it that people can see through this bullshit, but are so panicked about the ice caps melting??
