    A little automotive fun :)

Last winter when I blew the engine on my 325i, I started driving my moms explorer for a daily since I didnt have another car at the time. With that she started driving the suburban, and told me how much she loved the heated seats in it and how she wished she had them in the explorer. So for Christmas that year I went to http://www.heatedseatkits.com/ and picked up a seat heater kit for $145. With me in school and her always driving, I never had the time to install them. So with that, Im starting to install it today :)

First I took the seat out of the car (Huge PITA that I wasnt expecting)

    Disassembly w00t

    Bottom track off

Goodbye fake leather skin! (this turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be, I thought I would have to wrestle with hog rings all day)

    The seat heater kit

    Element mounted :)

    Fake leather all back on

    Now with heated seat!

Just have to finish the top half now, put the seat back together, bolt it back in the car, and wire it up!

That is pretty sweet. How does it wire up? Should'nt be too hard. Like fog lights, only heated seats.

Yeah pretty much I just need a switched 12V source and a ground then mount the switch for it somewhere. I havnt done any electrical work on this car before so Im not sure what im going to be drawing power off of.

Just got the top half done and the seat is back together.

Im going to mount it in the center console by the cup holders I think. I can get a power source there pretty easy and theres a lot of room to hide wires. I was going to stick it on the side of the seat, but its one of those weird switches where in the middle it is off, I figured not being able to see it, it might be difficult to fumble around with it trying to turn it on and off without seeing it.

I would get a 3rd OEM switch and wire it to the aftermarket seat heater.

Then that 3rd OEM switch would go behind the two for the front seats, and it'd turn on both seat heaters in the back.
