Eh, although I'm not proud of it, I did have to fork out $450, but that is because these fucking dickheads in Tennessee nearly destroyed mine and rendered it useless.
Yeah, it seems it has definitely went up compared to when you sent yours in. Looking a few old threads from other websites, that seemed to be the average rate.IIRC I paid $129 for mine and shipping to them was on my dime. I had it in hand three days after they received it.
That was a few years ago, and I remember their prices went through a pretty significant increase not too long after that. I'm not sure how they compare currently though.Leave a comment:

I just found Module Masters in in ID, nice, but if I'm in the same situation as you, it doesn't help.
By chance, care to share what you end up spending for the BBA replacement?Leave a comment:

Update:
I contacted both BBA and Module Masters. BBA told me they weren't able to repair the unit, so an exchange unit had to be used in place of it. Apparently it was somewhat ruined or destroyed in the process of when ASI "fixed" it. Whether it is true or not, I don't have much of a choice, so they are in the process of sending me a replacement. BBA offers a lifetime warranty on it for as long as I own the vehicle, so I went with them. Module masters sent me an email stating the 5DF5 error means the unit can't be worked on, basically what BBA said.Leave a comment:

I used Module masters for 2 of my e39's... Fantastic service!
Do some research, I dug up a few not so good things about the others (BBA)Leave a comment:

Get it taken care of if you can. I was driving to work one morning (although it is 100% my fault because I was coming in a little quick) and I hit a patch of water coming off the interstate and I locked up the front wheels and nearly took out a median. Didn't need coffee after that. lol It's features like these in modern cars that you take for granted until you need it.Leave a comment:

I've been wondering why I get intermittent ABS/DSC lights and weird kinda ABS braking on my e46. This makes tons of sense. I didn't know it was a common failure, first e46 learning curve I guess.Leave a comment:

Tested all the wheel sensors, all were within specs and were reading properly when I drove it. Plus when it was colder out, it would function normally, but when the day progressed and it got hotter, the ABS and traction control lights would come on. Now that it is summer time, it is 100% not working. That led me to believe something was expanding, like a bad solder within the unit itself. The 5DF5 (Internal ECU fault) error code was also a nice hint as well.Leave a comment:

How did you determine that the ABS/DTC module is faulty? there are multiple components to the system that can cause the system to not operate.Leave a comment:
