That sucks dude. Just don't go near your bosses for a while and kiss some major ass and you should be ok. Keep an eye on your friend. People can take this stuff pretty hard. Did it happen today? That would suck being 9/11 and all.

Thats hard to hear my friend.

Did you know that the new retirement age is 73? (Census Bureau)

Did you know that 98% of people (Social Security Administration) by the age of 65 are dead (25% of the 98%) or broke (75% of the 98%)?

Its hard to swallow nowadays that most people can't live off what they make...

          Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?
          That can't be right.
In my area the demographics don't reflect that. My 'rents are in their 50's and they're retired and my gramma's 82 and she drives a Benz and just left on a cruise.

I think those numbers might be slightly exaggerated, and even so Social Security is a bunch of BS.
People should manage their own money.

Those statistics are correct. Of course your area might not match those type of numbers, but throughout the nation, thats whats happening...

I wish it were exaggerated, but thats the way it is out there.

I'm a software engineer and not being that far removed from the dark dot bomb years of not so long ago I feel for your friend. Getting laid off is tough and it always stings knowing that others that could have done more for the company are still there. However, when you have a sales department they are always going to be amongst the last to go since without sales there is no business. It is a harsh reality.

Anyway, myself and damned near everyone I knew were being laid off every other month, we found some amusment here:

Browse the most recent videos from channel "Odd Todd Archive" uploaded to Rumble.com

Send it to your friend and have him watch the Laid Off videos. Good for a laugh. And if he doesn't laugh at first, give him 4 more beers and 3 more shots of Irish Whiskey. He will start to see the humor in it :)
