would be so fun to drive tho....
i wonder how a twin turbo stock internals one would fair against the modded one....
Nominal output hp/rpm
535/5250-6000
Max. torque lb-ft/rpm
550/1500-5000
5HP difference. 24 valves difference. I'm sure the newer one would be faster in the same car (torque is nice and all that), but still. imagine what that would sound like with a track friendly exhaust?
It's probably the closest thing to an S70/2 that you could practically get. Unless you get a newer, built up NA BMW V12. but still $$$$$$$$$$$$
some light reading:
[Gordon Murray's] creation was the fastest production car for almost a decade when it was surpassed by Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCR and SSC Ultimate Aero TT. However, unlike forced induction (turbo or supercharged) cars mentioned above, the F1 is still the fastest production car with a naturally aspirated engine which was unsurprisingly made by BMW.“The Veyron because of its high CDA figure and huge cooling drag needs 1001 hp to go 12 mph faster than a McLaren F1 producing 627 hp. To help understand the problem of starting a car program from a weak point aerodynamically, we do some calculations: A turbocharged F1 producing 1001 hp would achieve 281 mph assuming the same drivetrain efficiency. Another way of looking at this equation is that an F1 would need “only” 740 hp to reach the Bugatti’s top speed. All this demonstrates just what an uphill struggle the Bugatti team faced to achieve their targets.”

I will say that the sound of pretty much any V12 is music to my ears.

6.0 LITER UPGRADES
This package is a continuation of the complete rebuild of the engine with the upgrade to 6 liters. The 6 liter parts change the stroke of the engine from 75mm to 86mm, the bore from 84mm to 86mm and the compression ratio from 8.8/1 to 10/1.
OPTION E
530hp / 465lbs/ft - will not meet emission standards - rough idle / 7500 redline
custom billet crankshaft - 86mm stroke
custom steel connecting rods
11.0/1 pistons or higher
custom roller cams - redline of 7200 rpm
roller cam conversion for M70
high performance valve springs
titanium valve spring retainers
larger intake valves (43.5 vs 42)
larger exhaust valves (37 vs 36)
port and polish cylinder heads
match port intake gaskets
custom intake system - indv. runner
Electromotive engine management system
custom headers w/ceramic coatings
fuel injectors
crank gear kit
head gaskets (Csi)
dyno - break in, tuning, map fuel & timing, burn custom chip set
TOTAL upgrade with engine rebuild - - $ 45,694.00
Maybe if we do a group buy, they'll throw us some M20 roller cams (lol)
I would keep the 75mm stroke and got with a billet crank. Pushing her up to 10,000rpm
Should be good for about 850hpsigpic
