I have a Gigabit (1000Mbps) ethernet port on my new motherboard. Sometimes this happens when it shows up as my DSL connection being 1Gbps. So, I don't know if this is an error on my DSL company's part, accidentily connecting me to a 1Gbps connection or what. My ping isn't any better on Counter-Strike, though, so probably not. My local area connection only says it has a rate of 100Mbps. I wish I knew how that all worked. It's just cool to think that right now I have a rediculous internet connection speed. Or else I'm completely wrong.
edit: approx. 5 minutes, later, it says i have received over 185 million bytes

You may have 1gb connection to your DSL modem, but your modem only has a <6mbit connection out to the internet (via your phone line). It's the weakest link that determines your fastest speed.
