Hoping to get a new laptop soon, but I really want a 17" or a 15" Macbook Pro, so I keep having a really hard time pulling the trigger on a new something else.

I'm leaning towards one of those at some point, but my macbook (core2@2.2, 4GB, 320GB 7200rpm) is acquitting itself nicely, and apple appears to have finally option listed the mac mini server to replace the x-serve: quadcore i7@2.0, 8GB ram, dual 256GB SSD for $2.4k. Two of those in a 1U enclosure comes to just over 5k, which is what you'd spend on a decent mac that runs osx server anyways. And for those that laugh at mac mini servers, did I mention the idle power draw is around 10w?
