Ummm really you dont think there is a correlation here?? why keep the stupid plastic covers on there. Your friend sounds like a douche if hes trying to get BMW to take back the SUV because his mods are breaking shit and melting the covers in the engine bay

He didn't touch the engine. Just software.
The melting covers are a known documented issue with BMWNA. It happens on the stock models too. They don't have a solution.

The diff broke way before the upgraded software and was covered under warranty.

I didn't snap any when I saw it last. It's locked up in a warehouse right now. It has the whole Martini decal kit on it. He never drives it bc it has a Canadian title/reg. Any idea how to get a US title w/o federalizing it? :)

It's parked in there next to the Renault R5 Turbo. Original Oregon car with like 24k miles on it. Never gets driven either :-/
