That thing can't be mid-engined--the proportions are all wrong. If that were mid-engined the car wouldn't have that glass canopy in the back, or if it did, it'd have to be seriously stretched. Plus, there's no rear cooling duct at all--I find it hard to believe that all the air is being pushed in through that scoop on the hood.
They've been saying a mid-engined Vette is coming out since the '70s. I'll believe it when I see it.
And BenDash, that picture's fucking awesome. :D
EDIT: Did you guys ever see the Fabrizzio Giugiaro Corvette Moray? That cars proportions are what you'd need for a mid-engined Vette:

Youre fucking stupid. How many times does it have to be said that the car pictured is a test mule? Not enough apparently.

What's your problem? I know it's a fucking test mule. I'm not disagreeing with you. I've seen test mules, and when you change a front engined car to a mid engined car, your proportions change. You couldn't physically fit an LS6/LS7 engine in the back of the C6. Maybe they're testing the engine in it's rightful place in a Corvette, but there's no way the next Vette will be mid-engined, because what's the point of testing an engine if it has to be redesigned to be placed in the rear of the car? The Corvette has its transmission in the rear--you'd have to completely redesign the transmission to run through the bottom or middle of the engine once it was placed amidships. There's too many parts that would be different from front to mid. What's the point of doing that?

Your still a retard. He never said that the car shown was mid engined, only that it was a current z06 with the eventual motor of the new Vette in it. Theyre spy photos man, and this had already gone over before in the thread. Reading comprehension is your friend.
So you thought the Z06 was fast? GM has confirmed a mid-engined, DOHC, supercharged Corvette SS. Heres a little article with some pictures. The car pictured is a c6 Z06 test mule with the new motor. http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...ad.php?t=63503. Enjoy.
I too, don't see anywhere where GM has *confirmed* a mid-engined vette. I read about half the posts on that link.

Um mid engine does'nt mean rear mid engine, any engine behind the front axle is also considered mid engine. They could have redesigned the tunnel and moved the motor back a few inches and it would be a mid engined car. Besides, the car in the pic is a stock Z06 with the engine PROPOSED FOR USE IN THE MID ENGINE CAR. The engine is in its stock location, but it is the prototype engine. Clear?
"If your going to make a mistake, make it a 100mph."....."But only on the racetrack".....
lol, Mariano, you must have been completely sh*tfaced when Pasha and I rolled in around 11pm
Back to the topic: generally supercars are midengine low production ego-driven cars either created by small volume manufacturers or by big companies bent on capitalizing on the halo affect these cars make (You mean MY Ford Focus used similar parts as those found on the Ford GT?!? OMGZ!!!)
Problem is GM shares too many parts between the base C6 and the 'supercar' Z06, to cut costs, because they are going in to the economic shitter. I highly doubt real supercar manufacturers make a substantial profit on their creations.
They should leave the supercar thing to small boutique manufacturers that are probably going to use some form of their compact V8.

Are you dumb? Nearly every part is different on the z06. The frame is different, the suspension is different, the body panels are different, the motor is different even some of the interior pieces are different. I wish people would stop pretending like they know what they are talking about and keep their mouths shut instead.
autoweek.com has the same pictures and guesses it will be 650hp. the blue devil/corvette ss will probably just be zo6 based but with more power. i doubt it will be truly mid-engined (like the elise).

And I wish people on r3v were more tolerant of eachother. But we can't have that, now can we?
Frame: wow, it's now aluminum ... too bad racers are too afraid to bolt/weld up a steel roll cage to aluminum frame rails ... looks like they can't use this on their race cars...
suspension: same geometry ... just lower, different suspension and damping rates
body panels: now w/ vents and shit, and some carbon thrown in for good measure .... bigger fenders too ... but it STILL LOOKS SIMILAR TO A BASE C6
engine: dry sump and titanium internals, and a larger displacement ... but still based on the same block
brakes: bigger
Despite this, the basic design principles haven't changed ... and in my book, a supercar's engine is behind the driver.
H0lmes: At least get an Associates degree before you make the assumption that you know more shit than other people. A GED only goes so far ...
