    Air Compressor Woes

I recenty bought an air compressor that was a test product at work. It's brand new and I cannot figure how much oil to add. There's no markings whatsoever. Ive tried searching online a few times, but this thing is foreign built and its a few years old. I cant find any info on it. I was told that the oil should be filled to the midpoint on the crankshaft. That's what I did and it seemed to run fine for the 10 seconds I tested it. When I filpped it off, the oil cap (or should i say plug) bursted into the air along with a ton of oil that had foamed up and shot out the top. The oil level in the compressor has risen all the way to the plug at the top. This too has foamed. So here's my question: Generally, where is the oil line on a motor? Seemingly below the midpoint of the crank.. but where?

I'm sorry but that is pretty funny, I can just picture it vibrating along and then pieces flying off.

You need to use non-detergent oil to prevent it from foaming. You probably had it at the right level, but after it foam, it expanded and shot out. Drain it and re-fill with non-detergent oil.
