    PS3, who's getting one?

    :D I am, to flip it :)

I was planning on doing the same thing, but don't want to have to camp out all night somewhere or some BS, and only to flip one, it wouldn't be worth it enough to afford another + pay the first off right away. Screw it :) I don't have enough money either so that's a small problem in itself. I seem to be spending all I can on my cars and racing.

Yeah, good point. Ive also heard there wont be quite as much demand as there was for the xBox360 but i find that extremely hard to believe. Especially with the console shortage they're having. I may be able to scrounge up all sorts of hundreds of dollars to throw at one if i can get one on the DAY of launch, otherwise its pretty much useless to flip IMO. Lots of other things that need my money before the end of the month though... tough.

Oh yeah, its going to be hard to get one on launch or any time around then anyway I think because several places (particularly gaming stores) did pre-orders. That probably exhausted any bit they will be getting into stock plus some because with a preorder you're still not even guranteed one at launch which is BS. Then of course you've got Bestbuy, target, walmart, etc, all that bigbox shit that you'll have gaming geeks sitting outside the stores with their acne cream in huge ratios to the amount of systems available inside.

Um, what I mean is good luck to you. I might just try too though.

I never buy the first release of a new video game console. There's always shit wrong with it, and they never get it worked out until the 2nd or 3rd gen. I might buy one to flip it, if I have the cash at launch time, but probably not. I'm still playing GT4 religously, and until there's a new GT and some kick ass games out for the PS3, I don't really see getting one for a long time. I still have several PS2 games that I play all the time.

i was going to buy one but i'll propobly wait to see if there is any proplems with the system and wait for more games to come out. My PS2 does me just fine for now anyway.

How much are they going to be? Is there any legit estimate on what they'll go for being flipped? If I buy one to flip it, I'm going to do it solely to make a profit, I don't want to end up having to keep it.

There's also this report I found earlier, I think Sony may have overdone it:

Merrill Lynch Japan predicts Sony will lose more than $1 billion on hardware during its next-gen console's first year on the market--a sum it may not be able to recoup.

Video game companies have been losing money or breaking even on consoles for years. All of the money is in the games. They basically give you the console for as cheap as possible so they can make a ton of money when you buy the games. Once all of the programing is paid for on the games think about how cheap it is to make copies of them. $$
