I suggest not signing up to freecreditreport.com...

Yeah, i wanted my free credit report and after signing up i discovered after 30 days, i'd be billed automatically. I read through the site and found the only way to cancel was to call customer information. I did, after being on the phone for about 20 minutes, my account is hopefully canceled. They have people on there that barely speak English, so after some of the things she said i'd say "Okay" a little later "Okay we charge you 20 dolla to yo credit car" "Nooooo, i want to cancel completely" "Blah blah blah blah" "Okay" "Okay, we charge you $12 dolla" "NOOOOO, cancel completely" :|. I explained to her i signed up with a debit card and didn't actually have money in the account, so she's like "Oh, so sign up with non valid card?" "Uh, whatever, just cancel everything completely" "Okay, rest assure you won't be charge" "Okay good, bye".

It still lets me sign in on the site, so i'm hoping this was canceled, i'm going to be kinda fucked if it's not.

I kinda had something like this. I got a shift boot from bmwfx.com. I didn't do anything else just process my order. Next thing I know I am getting charges for $20.00 a month from CCNow where someone running a business can get a mass of products in mass quanitities. Didn't speak good english but got mine shut off after 4 months.

Hoping my 725 score isn't ruined from signing up with a "fake credit card". :|

Ok, everyone reference this for future use:

ONLY GET YOUR CREDIT REPORT FROM Trans Untion, Experian, or Equifax.

Those are the only 3 legit credit reporting agencies and each is required by the federal government to give you a copy of your credit report anually. That means 3 free ones a year without having to sign up for anything. They will ask you to but none of this signing up and forcing you to jump through hoops to cancel AOL style bullshit.
        Im now E30less.

The funny part is that FreeCreditReport.com uses those 3 bureaus to get their information. All they're doing is charging you to do the busywork, plain and simple. If you just do it yourself, it's free. Most people just don't know how, or are too lazy to.

Ya, so tried Trans Union. After filling everything out and giving them all the information they needed, the website says they can't give me a credit report because they don't have enough information about me and to call customer service to fix it. I call up customer service and who do I get? Some guy that talks so little English I can barely understand him. I talk to him for 15 minutes trying to see what they need and all he keeps telling me is that they need more information from me. I repeatedly ask what information he needs and he just keeps saying "We need more information to confirm your identity." I finally give up and tell him to cancel my account, which he does.

What a joke. Honestly, don't even bother checking your credit unless you really need to. It's not worth the hassle of talking to all the morons that can't speak English just to end up with a charge on your credit card and no credit report.

                ARG!!!

Yeah, they have farmed all their clerical support and customer service to this one guy in India.

                    I'm thinking of a number between 450 and 850...

It's 720 and it just happens to be my credit score.

I seem to remember your credit report goes down if you just keep checking it and not actually doing anything, is there any truth to that?

I dunno whats the fuss, I just go to the bank and they know.

This is bad. My dad is a VP/GM at ... and he was talking to another VP about a change in the sick/personal day policy. Basically they just changed the name of sickdays to personal days and the number of them didnt change and the clerical staff voted against it. It was really stupid because its the same number of days but they thought they were losing their 6 sickdays (because the clerical staff is always sick 6 days a year).

Well he was talking to his associate about how it was shot down last year and since he didnt deal with the clerical people he was wondering why the clerical people didnt kill the change in the policy this year when it was finally passed. The answer was simple, "Mike, the clerical people are in India* now, they dont get a vote." :)

                          *said with an accent.

Not you checking it but a lot of inquiries does raise red flags.

                              EXACTLY!!!!!!
i checked mine 7 months ago....758!!! fuck yea! been working on it to get it that high for 3 years so i can buy a house. 3 weeks ago i go to the morgage co to get preapproved for the house loan so i can start looking. get a call back 2 days later (it was my mom's friend's morgage co) sorry we can't do the loan, your credit score came back as 550!!! wtf!!! she says to get with her on monday and we can go over it to see if there is any incorrect info and see what happened. screw that i go equifax and paypal buyer credit has that i have made 2 late payments (not true) and that i have not made a payment in 4 months and they have closed my account. all wrong!!! oh yea and it says that i am unemployed too!! nice!! a couple of frustrating phone calls to paypal with people in india that barely spoke engrish, and i give up for now, before i flip out. i have the proof that everything is wrong, but it could take 6 months to a year to get it all straight. in the mean time the lease is up on the house i am renting and they are selling it, so i have to go or be homeless. luckily i am on great terms with the owner of the house i am looking to buy (i lived there for three years up until a year ago when she remodeled it to sell it), i told her what had happened and she did a lease to own (open ended) for at least a year, so i can have time to straighten things up. LUCKY!!!!!! is all i have to say!! check that shit at least once a year, you can get away with 2 times a year and it wont really make a difference, but either way do it, so you don't get fucked like this!!!
