Freaking Snow today WOO 1st snow. My day soo far.

Recap on my day so far.

    Well 1st snow that stuck.
It started when I wan in class at 8AM, I got out at 9:30 and couldn't see shit, 1st time with my m42 in the snow, last car I had in the snow was the MB 300D Turbo (Tank). Did some wheel spinnin and had a little sliding fun :)

Got home loaded up the steelies in my back seat and trunk. Took em to the tire place across the street. They are mounting used studed tires on the rear and using the existing tires on the front steelies. Should be done by noon.

Next walked 3 blocks in the sub freezing temp to the post office to ship some car parts. Then walk two block back up to the coffe shop to get the special of the day "el florida". Then walked two blocks back to my house, sitting here in bordom now typing this.

I have to be at work at noon so hopefully my steels will be on before that.

E30's do great it in the snow once they've got studded tires on. If I were you, I would get a few sandbags to put in the trunk, the added ballast in the rear really helps with traction. Also, keep a bag of the el-cheapo kitty litter in the trunk, you can toss a handful under your rear wheels if you get stuck, it works really well.

you should put studs on all fours, and not just the rears. You need braking grip too.

yea well i didnt end up getting them the car sat at the tire place for 1.5hrs then they finally realized my steelies rn't 15" but 14" and they did'nt have tires for that.

so i'm gonna wait a little longer and do it next week in the warm weather at a different place. what an oddessy.

maybe next winter when I can afford 4x studded tires I will get 2 more.
thanks for the tip about the litter.

I didn't notice that when I first read it, he's right. You really should put studded tires on all four weels. Standard tires aren't going to do dick on the front, especially considering that's where your braking power is coming from.

                Or split the difference.

Put them on the front and back of the right or left side.
