    Who listens to JAZZ?

Who here listens to jazz? Who's your favorite player(s) and what kind of style do they have?

    Here's my list:

Mike Stern - very intense, a little bluesy, a little rock, completely awesome.

Victor Wooten - Very gimmicky, arguably one of the best bassists around.

Dennis Chambers - Best drummer ever. EVER.

Scott Henderson - bluesy, like Stern with more edge.

Jimmy Smith - quintessential post bop keys player.

Chick Correa - electronic, keys, crazy

^wait through the guitar solo to see chick

Richard Bona - Cool bassist, amazing african inspired scatting(making music with your mouth aka ba bee da boop).

Bela Fleck - ok so he's not quite jazz, but he's a cool banjo player. Definately not your typical banjo.

I've played it, so I guess I'm required to like it (not that I don't). I like older swing stuff. Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, etc.. I'd have to say Charlie Parker is my favorite, but then again, I'm an alto player, so...

John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk. How could you beat that? My favorite Jazz album ever (well so far). The Complete 1957 Riverside Recordings.

And Victor Wooten IS the best bass player around. I'd like to see the guy from Primus play Norwegian Wood in harmonics.

          go, go way back cats,
to a time when tears flew by the sweet pain in your soul,
deep, deep and dark at a point when they brought in the light,
hunger, despair stirred your gut until the beats of your heart rumble like burn jambalaya
by the river, on the pits

Ill agree that Bela Flek isnt really jazz, but damn hes good.

Go out and pick up Live at the Quick, one of my all time favorite albums. Big Country is an especially good track.
