I think I can still get DefTech at wholesale. They got bought by DEI so if you want, I will check. Speakers are incredibly profitable and generally have no warranty issues.
I can do Yamaha and Harman/Kardon too, but margin is very slim.
I can also do Wharfdale speakers, which I personally hold in much higher regard than most anything out there. The Jamo I carry is excellent too.
Since all I would do is order your stuff drop shipped, I am OK at 10% over my actual cost, which just might be a hell of a lot less than local or whatever.
Just an offer. Might save you guys some dough.

I absolutely love 'em. They sound excellent paired with Sony electronics. It's kind of a personnal prefrence thing, and some will probably disagree with me - but I think differing brands of electronics have differing electronic signatures in their sound.
One thing I would say is to really pick the speakers based on placement/room size. My front channels were a demo sale at Magnolia Hi-Fi, and really are too big for the room. They used to sound great in my old place, but here the room is 16 x 14 - and for some reason I haven't been able to get back the real "live" sound when I toss a live CD recording in and just do 2 channel music. I'm moving soon, so I haven't worried, but the TL's I have are too big for the cubic volume of the room. At least that's what I'm blaming it on.
Deftechs are great value. There is better out there, but I think they are quite a bit more money.Leave a comment:

I give you two thumbs up. When I get the money to piece together a system I am going full Polk Audio with probably a Denon or ONKYO reveiver.
My dad went to college with Matt Polk (co-founder of Polk Audio) and is good friends with him. He and his wife are my godparents, which is pretty cool. He is a big car enthusiast too, still ownes an M-coupe IIRC.Leave a comment:

Hell no. I want triode power so bad...I just want 6 channels of 300B power.
I have a pair of Morel 12" woofers that are insanely low distortion, incredibly sensitive: 3" voice coil, magnesium frame, moving mass of less than 120Gms. These things are lower in distortion at 120db than a normal woofer is at 80db. They are NIB, from 1990. Whosasle cost was over $400/pr
Possibly the fastest, lowest distortion, cleanest 12" woofer ever made.
I have been waiting to build a pair of truly world-class cabinets...2 layer 3/4 MDF, sand filled, hand rubbed (Josh, come and sand!) ultra beautiful cabinets. Something fit for a million-dollar living room. I have the skills. I now have the space. I do not have a room to put them in, but I will.
For mids and tweeters, ideally I would use Accuton midranges and tweeters. The diagphragm is made of pure diamond. Yes, Diamond. 100% pure...not much more than other world-class tweeters like the Raven or the Dynaudio "Esotar" or other exotics.
If I could only find the money for Magnat Ionospheres...or where to buy them.
Anyway, I want to build 6 channels of 300B triode power to run a set of 3 way speakers in full active mode...no passive crossovers at all. Maybe a bit of Zobel network, but not much more.
/heavy caffiene "wanna build" rant.
Eric, did you know the original is back? Might have bitten the dust again, but they were building kits again, and complete amps. I saw nad heard these beauties with my own eyes.
Good to know we E30 guys really do appreciate the true classics in life.

That's what I'm looking to buy when my salary catches up to my wants.
And I would love a tube setup, but the investment money isn't there. I envy you though, that's for sure.

24" Sony Trinitron flatscreen TV
Pioneer XV-HTD 520 5.1 Surround Sound built in DVD player/receiver. DTS, built in amplifier, Advanced theater and DSP modes...
Its a home theater in a box, but a very clear sounding one at that. Very good for a boxed setup. I don't have many plans to upgrade anytime soon, but it is very nice for my needs, and it was only $270 when I purchased it, instead of the list price of $500. Does not have component video outputs though...Leave a comment:
