How many reposts of this are we going to have to see.

Uhhh, where are the road crews laying down salt and shit? We just got an inch of ice here in NH as well, and the roads are nowhere near as bad.

You guys get weather like this all the time so you are prepared. Here 1in of snow means late starts at school and possibly the day off.

Exactly. You even mention the possibility of snow at sea level and there's a run on "survival items" in WA. I swear people don't have a clue around here.

At least we don't salt - I much prefer pit run fines & antifreeze solution over seeing the bottom of my car go Flintstone power. Yabba Dabba Doo!

At least we have a clue though, I flew to Texas to pick up & drive home a VW Corrado - landed in DFW on Dec 27th.

A freak freeze came through, and it was sheet ice on I-10 80 miles east of DFW. I was in the slow lane doing 35 and my traction control was kicking in all over. I was getting passed by people in the fast lane doing 55-60! And for whatever reason everyone was either in a Caddy or a 2 wheel drive domestic truck. I was even getting passed by tractor/trailers.

I shrugged it off, but ~15 miles later was a long gradual hill - that's where it got cool. People spinning out and cars littering the ditches literally every couple hundred yards. Then you started seeing tractor/trailers in the ditch too. They even make tow trucks bigger in TX, as they had some monsters out.
Best thing I saw was a family huddled tight watching their minivan burning.

I only got another 40-50 miles before I pulled off and got a room. Even then people were all freaked out because the "Texas 7" were still on the loose. The next morning as I was getting breakfast and getting out of town, I watched time & time again as people would go normal speed, and end running into eash other and any immovable object. So many cars sitting disabled after decent speed runs at curbs, other cars etc. It was like everybody decided to just go out ice skating in their cars, and all acted totally surprised when they wadded it up in to each other/objects.

I think it was 1999. It was really weird because I even was in ice/snow clear into New Mexico. There was literally a foot of snow on the streets in Albequerque. Didn't clear up until West NM.

Texans really can't drive in snow, I've seen that firsthand, and it was hilarious.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Road salt might wreck havoc on automobiles, but it sure does the trick at making the roads manageable. Besides, thats why they have winter beaters.

And there is no point for us to salt the roads, It snows every 2 years maybe.... Hence why no one has snow tires etc. And I dont think any one woulda done any better, we have some seriously steep hills + Ice ontop of snow.. Thats why my our cars stayed in the driveway where they belonged.. and dads car in the garage.
