what does "premium" gas mean in your state?

I'm reading about these 93 octane chips, but as fas as I know the "premium" gas in Oregon is 92. Maybe it's just the shell I always go to, but I think it's a state thing. If other Oregonians can confirm/deny, please do.

I remember driving cross country, and regular gas in the middle states was 85 I think, where it's 87 here. Maybe it's the altitude or the ethanol content, dunno.

Basically just curious if everyone but me has easy access to 93 octane?

Usually premium is 93 octane in both NJ and PA (the states I am in the most).

There is a gas station run by Sheetz that markets 92 octane gas as Premium in PA near my college. This makes me think that it is not regulated by state law, but rather just a marketing term.

Here in PA and MD its 92 or 93, mostly 92. I seen one station has 95 around here i think that it was a Sunoco. Or you could go to the airport and get 100+.

I used to work in a WA refinery, so I remember just enough to mis-inform.

What you see is (WA anyhow) the minumum octane rating on the pump. Super has to be a minimum of 92 octane. Generally they don't want to give away free octane, so they blend as close to the line as possible.

If you are worried, buy some toluene. It's a paint solvent. Do a google for it, you'll get a dozen recipes. Store toluene is 116 octane, scientific grade is 120.

It's still the cheapest real octane boost, even at ~$8.50 / gallon.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

yeah there's a station in albany that sells 100, but I think it's leaded, dunno. I miss sunoco's. Here in oregon you're pretty much stuck with chevron, texaco (getting rare), shell. 76, costco, arco or safeway. At least around me.

It means 92 where I live. I could go to the airport and get Low lead 100, but it is really bad on fuel pumps, fuel filters and my WG specifically said to not use leaded gas.

93 here in chicago is standard premium... i know of a few gas stations within 10-15miles that sell 100oct unleaded, up to 110 (leaded i believe)

92-93 once in a while you will see 94 here all though we have a few sunoco's that have 95 in the lansing area. I can alos get 110 race gas (leaded) at a local station for 9.37 a gallon last time I saw it.
