Bedding? Anyone have a down comforter?

So I just bought one, it was on sale so I thought why the heck not. I get the thing home and get the box open, and read that it has 47oz of 600 fill power hungarian goosedown and baffle box sewn! I'm worried its going to be way to warm, it seemed fine last night but I think I only have a few days before I can return it. Looking online I can see that mine falls into the "heavyweight" category. most midweights are about 33oz of down, and lightweight ones are around 25 or so.

Anyone have one of these things? I think if i get a real lightweight duvet cover and ditch my top sheet I will be able to keep it and not get too hot. Most people seem to have a top sheet, blanket, and then the comforter right? Its really well made and great quality so I'd hate to get rid of it since they don't have a lighter weight one in stock, i'd have to get my $ back which would only cover about 2/3rd of a different brands comforter in a lighter weight.

I had used the same comforter (from when I was about 8yrs old) inside a comforter/duvet cover for years, so it was finally time to upgrade to big boy stuff.

Dude, I love big comfy comforters. I just use a comforter and nothing else. Perfect temp for me.

this board is turning into some martha stewart/the view type shit.
if it were me, id return it but first id get stupid drunk and naked and spew my bodily fluids all over it. then wrap it up nicely and return it for a lightweight version.

You know how I know you're gay?

Because you posted a thread on an E30 board about down comforters and duvet covers.

All I use is a big feather comforter. Nice and toasty warm. MY only problem is my room gets COVERED in feathers that escape. Even with a duvet cover.

We used to have one, but I got sick of all the little pointy ends of the feathers working their way through and poking me at night, even through a cover.

a true down cover doesnt have those poky feathers. down is soft, feathers are poky.the less pricey ones aren't all 100% down, even some of the expensive ones aren't all 100% down. I should add that they are even on sale more at www.kohls.com and mine doesnt have any poky things at all and no feathers are getting out.

It's a love/hate relationship with my down comforter.
I love it because it's nice and toasty
I hate it because of the pokey ends of the feathers that escape
i love it because it's big and fluffy
I hate it because on some nights i wake up sweating like a runaway slave
                          ................btw gayest thread ever
