I am selling a set of Flik wheels on VWvortex.com. They are 18x8 35et 5x100 blah blah. The price is 400 shipped, they are at least $520ish shipped brand new. Anyways I get the most jerk-off low ball ever:

(guy): would you take $370 shipped, send my your paypal and I'll send paypal right now
(me): 400.
(guy): keep em'

This is where I got pissed. I was asking 400 shipped, why would you PM and offer me fucking $370????

(guy): Your going to have these wheels for two more months if you keep that attitude up kiddy (something like that)
(me): get fucked

So anyways you should be able to realize my frustration here. My thread has been locked twice in two months for people posting bullshit about how they can get them some other place for some other price blah blah anyways...

I always haggle with everything, and I mean everything. I wouldnt get mad a people for it, it happens. I have looked at trucks where they were asking $2,500 or Best offer. They were looking for $2,400 for it, where I look at it and offer 1400. They get pissed and insulted, but its like, wtf??? When u sell stuff people bargain, its the nature of the beast.

I should have stated that the price has gone from about $600+shipping to $400 shipped. I just couldn't believe that 30 dollars was what his whole deal was riding on. Just a rant that is all.

Sure, I will haggle too, but would you really try to haggle over $30? The guy is offering to pay $370 for the set of wheels, but refuses to pay the asking price of $400...

But then there's the other side... Someone offered you almost your asking price, but you refused to budge.
I have sold a lot of stuff, and sometimes when I am selling something for $110, but someone will offer $100. First I am thinking, "No, fuck you. $110 is fair." Then I stop and think for a second and realize that I was going to waste my time arguing with this guy for $10...

If you don't want offers, say the price is firm and not to send offers. It's kind of assumed in classifieds that prices are negoitable. Same is true selling things in the newspaper or on Craigslist. Pretty much anything over a 100$ bucks gets an offer from me. I don't feel like I got a good deal unless I haggle a little. Getting pissed that someone is asking for 8% off your posted price is ridiculous. If you want to sell things to the public through FS postings, you ought to get used to it.

Granted, both of you could have been more cordial:

Example, I sold some wheels with a 700$ price, folks PM'd me offers for 500. A MUCH larger difference than your 30$. My response "Thank you for your offer, however I am firm on my price as they were originally 1300$ and are in great condition, I think my price is fair".

Or "500$ is too low for me to sell, however I am willing to come down to 650$ as a one time non-negoitable offer. PM me if you would like to proceed"

get fucked never made a sale for me, and I sell for a living. Polite, detailed refusals are respectable and expected -- they generally lead to a re-offer.

30 bucks off your price is lowball? Shit, I usually go 50 under. Telling a potential buyer to "go fuck themselves" is a real good sales technique.

pineapple: True, I bought them on impulse originally for my MK4 that is basically a beater so I figured I'd get some low balls. The fact is I have posted lower and lower prices for weeks now. Alot of leads but no sales. I haven't gotten angry until this last guy. It wasn't that I was really concerned about the 30 dollars less thing, I just wasn't backing down from my price this time around. Someone post a link to TJ's whining baby thread on here, I am sounding like a real fag.
