For what it's worth, I think it's great that you 2 held out for how ever long you dated. It's not easy, that's for sure. The only time I've ever seen a problem when someone's a virgin too long, it becomes a large part of their identity in life, and when that changes they have a hard time with that change. Sounds strange, but I have seriously had conversations with both men and women who have gone though that, much more women than men though.
The only other time I saw it as a problem was when a girl friend (27!!!) of mine dated her future husband who wasn't a virgin, and she was. It took a decent amount of counseling for her to get over the fact he had 1 other person in life. Poor guy probably still pays for that on some level. I still pity that guy, especially since she's a chiropractor and provides the bulk of their income as well.

But it sounds like you guys are off to a great start, and since you are both virgins it will make that part of life that much easier and your first time will be an experience you both enjoy together. May God bless your marriage and bring you a great life together. Congrats!

If life were fair, I would be able to capture all the mistakes I made in my marriages and sell them to you...so at least I could recapture some of the loss.

Let me offer my idea of how a relationship should work.

Imagine you are standing on railroad tracks.

Looking into the distance, the tracks become a single point. Standing where you are, you look down and see the ties holding the rails carefully apart. That distance needs to be maintained carefully or bad things happen.

This is what my experience shows me is important. You need to maintain your own interests, she needs to maintain hers. You had your own life before her, she had hers. You absolutely must maintain your own identity, and she hers.

I don't mean this in a selfish way, just staying true to yourself.

I strongly recommend you find a way to be comitted to the relationship FIRST, then comitted to her. Divorce is absolutely devastating. If you can commit to the relationship first, no matter how bad things get between the two of you, you are still bound by the commitment to the relationship, see?

If I were king, you would have to pay about $150,000 to marry. It would take at least 5 years. Your friends would become your enemies, you would have to drive a crappy car the whole time, you would have to pay for kids you don't even have yet...basically, divorce, reversed.

Then, after 10 years, you would get back all you had lost.

I honestly hope you don't need "luck". Work hard instead.
