something like "real oem" for other cars

shittyness maximus, i got laid off yesterday from my plush job fixing bumpers at scottsdale jag, rover, acura,vw,bmw, porsche, bentley. why? because the owner of my company has a CRACK ADDICTION, was double billing the dealerships, being on crack (they wouldn't even let him on the property of the dealership any more!), and being all around shady. so with a half a days notice, we had to vacate, and i am job hunting. i also have to get my other toolbox, cart and welders out of the south shop tomarrow because that business folded too, and the owner ( who also didn't have keys to that shop...changed the locks so he couldn't steal stuff for crack) now will have a copy of the keys to the shop and might liberate my stuff for crack!!! ok end rant/venting!
i have a bunch of bumper related stuff for new bmw's, jags and landrovers that i need to dump on ebay or what ever and need to know what they fit and get atleast an idea of what they go for since i need some stop gap $$.
side note just bought a house in jan. and that took most of my savings for fee's closing cost etc. and i was just getting my savings back up. fuck a doodle doo!!!
    thanks, for any help,
    greg

      Umm . . .

Maybe an obvious suggestion, but if you have the skills to do this, why not approach the dealerships yourself and offer your services? I imagine they still need them.

Being your own boss can be very rewarding. As long as it pays the bills!!!!

If you do good work, provide good service and dont charge too much, I imagine you could sell this service not only to the dealerships where you were working but others.

actually i am very good, but not at painting. i was doing heavy collision at our south store (all high end cars), it got slow, they offered me a job doing bumpers (i was turning 8-12 cars a day) for the same $ (just under 65k a year salery). before that i was doing restorations and collision on porsche mainly and what ever else they threw at me. unfortunately being able to metal finish cars is not as good for $$ as a quick cave and pave so for this last job my metal files etc sat in my tool box. right now just looking to work for someone else and let them supply me the work. i started out doing sandrail fab, then wrenching on cars, then to parts for 8 years( then the dealerships figured out that they were paying parts people too much $$$ that they could keep for themselves, so they cut our pay), went back to wrenching on porsches, did resto work off and on on the side since the begining, got tired of working on hot engines, learned how to do bodywork better and metalfinish and sheetmetal fab for big $ resto's, found this job for more $$, owner finds crack, business folds, here i am :curse:
it shouldn't be too hard to get another job, just not looking forward to going flat rate again

you could just call dealerships with part numbers....if they dont want to do a full list get some from one dealership and call the next. there are dealerships all over the country, i'm sure you could get it done that way.

sucks about the job man, hop everything works out.

Damn dude, that really sucks! I hope you can get back on your feet ASAP!

There's this Acura parts dealer, Acura Carland out of GA that has a system like RealOEM, except you can actually order the parts. It has pricing for everything.

Yeah.. that really sucks. When I worked in the IT department at a warehouse, my climate controlled office was almost like my second home. Everything that I had in my studio apartment I also had there. A fridge, Satellite TV, a sofa, a bunch of personally owned computer equipment, etc.

It was a sweet arrangment until the corporate puppets came in one day and informed the whole staff that our biggest client decided to breach their contract and go with another company. Long story short, we were told that the plant would be permanently shutting down at the end of the week. We got decent severance packages plus unemployment, but I was stuck trying to find a way to relocate or get rid of all of my stuff.

So you can best believe that I feel your pain.

*nice update* i had to go and get my tools yesterday with a tow truck (not my roomates dad's trailer *free* like planned on sat) at $75 i didn't plan on spending, because the owner got copies of the keys to the shop and it was feared that he would go into the shop and clean it out to sell the equipment for $$ for crack, nice! so as the tow truck is loading my stuff (toolbox, welders, toolcarts) i go and talk to the accountant, she assures me that my last check will be deposited on monday and the $ is there (i have direct deposit) then i asked her about my vaca time that was still owed me (2 weeks) and she told me that the waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles GM wasn't letting her pay owed vaca time to the employes and we will get neither since we were "laid-off" they have no obligation to give either a severance of owed sick/vacation time. so monday i am calling the AZ labor board to see if i am screwed or not, fucking cocksucker!!!

he was an outside vendor so to speak. you would think with all his $$$
(self made business lots of real estate etc.) he would have been strung out on COKE and patrying his ass off, insted of a cheap CRACK hold up in a cheap ass motel room with a transexual midget hooker!
and yes most all of the upper level managment at dealerships ARE coke heads!

unfortunately pretty much all of the parts computers are VIN driven and they make it almost impossable to look up things without a VIN# and just a part number.
i have alot of new bmw front end stuff i'll be putting on here and ebay if anyone here might need something like bumper shocks, bumper mounts, trim, headlight assemblies, foglights, stuff like that.
thanks for listening to my rant too.

I guess that particular IT job that I spoke of would have to be the best one ever. I had another job that I liked however I was somewhat indifferent when it came to being employed there or not. So one day they attempted to fire me. They called me into the office one morning and said, "as of today we are terminating your employment...blah...blah..blah.." I didn't get mad, I didn't ask them why, nor did I appear to be upset. I just started packing my stuff as if I was headed out the field to do my service calls. And then 10 minutes later the boss comes to me and says, "Uhh.. so you clearly understand that you no longer work here, right?" and I was like, "Yeah, that's not a problem. My phone will be on if you need anything later."

By this time the boss appeared to be getting a little steamed because after the fact (when I got my job back that afternoon) apparently something that I did (or didn't do) annoyed him so much that he was only using the whole firing thing to get my attention and he wanted me to beg him for my job so that he could have the upper hand in the situation. I later told the guy that if I did something that you didn't like, all he had to do was say so, and I would have immediately corrected it.
